HSA Bridge
The MSDE recognizes that there will be some students who will struggle on the HSA, even after they take the tests several times and take advantage of academic remediation. The Bridge Plan for Academic Validation would provide another way for students to meet the HSA graduation requirement and earn a high school diploma, while meeting the same standards as those students passing the HSA. Advanced Placement Exams:
Advanced Placement (AP) courses help students acquire skills and habits needed to be successful in college. Students can improve writing skills, sharpen problem-solving abilities, and develop time management, discipline, and study habits. More than 90 percent of four-year colleges in the United States and colleges in more than 60 other countries give students credit, advanced placement or both on the basis of AP Exam scores.
Registration deadline for AP Exams is March 19, 2012. The fee is $87 per exam, payable by cash or check (to South River High School.) The Board of Education may offer a multiple exam discount for families paying for four or more exams. Contact the school test coordinator for more details.
In an attempt to create a test environment free of distractions, most Advanced Placement Exams may be held off site, at Riva Trace Baptist Church (475 West Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035.)
Please see the AP Exam Parent Information Letter for detailed information. Additional forms for registration, attendance, and exam requirements are listed below.
