Readers will be inspired by the story of Baruch Talbott, a young orphan who grew up in the crosshairs of the Second Liberian Civil War near the turn of the 21st century. With story and insight provided by Talbott, this fast-paced book is arranged in short chapters that capture pivotal moments in Talbott’s life, including unspeakable terror that tested his courage and resolve. Talbott’s life lessons continued when he was adopted by an American family at the age of nine.

Reminiscent of his African heritage, Talbott recited his memories aloud and Debby Coughlan brought them to life with her written interpretation. Talbott’s original words are captured in four interludes throughout the book, including the prologue and epilogue. The heartwarming, sincere account will resonate with older youth and adults.
