AACC Coming to SRHS

Anne Arundel Community College will be offering placement testing and course enrollment for the Fall 2012 semester, for both graduating seniors and incoming JumpStart students, at SRHS. 

Pre-registration is required for all events and parents are welcome to attend for Personal Registration.  For more information, contact the Guidance Office at 410-956-5600, ext 210.

Application Day

Small group sessions, starting at 8:00am.  Students will be introduced to some of the various programs available at AACC and will complete the paper application process.

Accuplacer Prep Class

9:00 am.  Students will gain an overview of the Accuplacer and practice on sample test questions.

Accuplacer Testing

12:30pm.  Placement testing for math and English will be offered to students who have not taken the SAT, or whose SAT scores do not meet minimum requirements.

Personal Registration Day

Appointments start at 8:00am.  Admissions counselors from AACC will be helping students register for courses offered in the Fall 2012 semester.  Registrations include regular enrollment and JumpStart.  Parents are welcome to attend.


 

Relay for Life Needs Help

This year’s Relay for Life , the American Cancer Society’s annual fund raiser, will be held at South River High School on June 22, 2012, beginning at 6:00pm and ending at 6:00am, June 23, 2012.

The donations collected go toward research, education and patient services.  Some of those funds also go to the Young Survivor Scholarship program which provides a $500 stipend per academic year to college-bound pediatric cancer survivors in need of financial aid.

 

Valentine’s Nite Out is Friday, February 10, from 5:30pm to 9:30pm.  A great opportunity for parents to take a night out to enjoy an early Valentine dinner date.

Sponsored by the SRHS Women’s Lacrosse Team, this event is open to children in kindergarten through grade 5.

The fee is $25 per child, with a charge of $5 for each additional sibling. Last minute drop-ins are welcome, at $30 for one child and $6 for each additional sibling.

Children can come in their pajamas or comfy clothes and can participate in activities that include karaoke, relay races, dancing, video games, crafts projects and more.  Each area is age appropriate and supervised.

Pick up is promptly at 9:30pm.  Late pick ups will be charged an additional fee.

AACPS now offers parents a way to view their child’s assignments, grades and attendance in order to promote student success.  ParentConnect is accessible from any computer with Internet access – at any time.

Only Parents and Legal Guardians may activate an account on ParentConnect.  To apply, you must appear in person to fill out the application and to present your valid Maryland driver’s license for identity verification.  You are welcome to stop by the Guidance Office, between 7:30am and 3:00pm, to pick up navigation instructions and collect the User ID and starter passcode.
